Position Summary

The Commercial Electrical Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for commercial electrical projects, including new construction, renovations, and service contracts. This role analyzes project plans, specifications, and scope to develop detailed labor, material, and equipment estimates. The Estimator collaborates with project managers, engineers, and clients to ensure competitive, profitable, and timely bids while maintaining compliance with codes, standards, and company policies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review and analyze blueprints, specifications, and project documents for commercial electrical projects

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates, including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs

  • Identify project risks, potential change orders, and cost-saving opportunities

  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients to clarify scope and requirements

  • Maintain and update historical cost data, vendor pricing, and estimating databases

  • Prepare bid proposals, take-offs, and supporting documentation for submittal

  • Ensure estimates comply with applicable electrical codes, standards, and company policies

  • Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits as needed

  • Provide technical guidance and support to project teams regarding estimate assumptions

  • Track and report estimating metrics and bid results to management

Qualifications
  • 3+ years of commercial electrical estimating experience

  • Strong knowledge of commercial electrical systems, codes, and standards (NEC, NFPA, local codes)

  • Proficiency in electrical estimating software (e.g., Accubid, ConEst, or similar)

  • Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings

  • Excellent mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

  • Effective communication and collaboration skills

  • Experience with budgeting, project cost tracking, and value engineering

  • Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred

  • Valid drivers license and ability to travel to job sites as required
