POSITION SUMMARY
The Project Manager - Enterprise Data role involves project management responsibilities for complex projects with global, enterprise-wide impact within Vertivs Enterprise Data Analytics group. The Project Manager will lead projects that span data platforms, data engineering, governed data in data lake, analytics, and AI readiness. The Project Manager will ensure successful completion of Enterprise Datarelated projects, ensuring that project objectives are achieved on time and on budget, while meeting quality goals of the program.
This position will be based onsite at Vertiv's Westerville, OH - HQ location.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for leading, planning, execution, and completion of medium to large complexity projects for our Enterprise Data lake, including key Data platform Enhancements. Monitors and drives project activities from initiation through delivery.
- Accountable for Project Management planning and execution tasks, including, but not limited to, scope, scheduling, budgeting, costing, resource, risk and issue management.
- Apply Agile Scrum principles for Data work - serve as the Agile facilitator (Scrum Master) for Enterprise Data teams by running standups, planning, refinement, sprint reviews, and retrospectives - ensuring teams stay aligned, impediments are surfaced early, and work flows predictably.
- Facilitate sprint demos and iterative showcases to provide visibility and transparency into ongoing data engineering, data quality, governance, and data product workstreams; ensure stakeholders understand progress, blockers, and expected delivery timelines.
- Continuously assesses project health, anticipating risk and developing effective mitigation plans that maintain committed project plan.
- Develops and manages project recovery plans when necessary, minimizing impact to project commitments.
- Collect and analyze data required to create effective written status reports. Creates and delivers effective written and verbal project status reports.
- Provide timely, relevant, and transparent project status.
- Identifies task dependencies as they arise and takes action to ensure that project schedule is unimpeded by dependencies.
- Facilitate cross-functional planning and project execution
- Provide executive-level program updates to Program Management Team.
- Monitor team schedules and ensure coordination of activities on the critical path.
- Develop reporting and tracking programs to assure the project is on target for scope, schedule, and cost.
- Identify key issues and drive decisions to ensure that the project does not slip.
- Identify key risks and develop contingency plans.
- Work with management of different operating functions to identify and obtain required resources to adequately project staff.
- Collaboratively engages and leads diverse teams and team members.
- Drives activities of project team members and balances workload of the team, ensuring that both individual and group objectives are met.
- Contribute to the development or refinement of processes, templates, and operational practices for effective project delivery in rapidly evolving data environments.
- Prepares and performs stage gate reviews and ensures compliance with the ITPLC standards and processes
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Job Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in computer science or related degree
- 7-10 years project management experience
- Experience managing multiple complex IT software development projects and/or data-focused software development and integration projects from inception to closure
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong Project Planning & Organizational Skills.
- Strong knowledge of Software Development Lifecyle process and Data lifecycle as it related to Analytics, BI and AI ready Data layers.
- Good understanding of how to look for gaps in business functional requirements as it relates to Project deliverables and ability to manage risks and key decisions.
- Excellent presentation skills; can adjust presentation to the audience level. Comfortable presenting to small and large groups at all levels of the organization.
- Ability to multi-task, manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, and prioritize tasks.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills. Must be highly effective at leading people and facilitating rapid change in a consistent and structured manner.
- Ability to demonstrate process development and management practices.
- Possesses understanding of cultural and behavioral influences on project communication and execution.
- Working knowledge of project management technologies, and tools (Microsoft Project, SharePoint, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Possess in depth knowledge of Waterfall and Agile project management methodologies.
- Team oriented individuals with the ability to work in a large, global corporate structure.
- Highly motivated self-starter who can initiate action and follow through with well-defined solutions and action plans.
- Exposure to working with data technologies such as Data lakes (Snowflake), cloud data platforms, data pipelines, MDM, BI/analytics tools, or data integration frameworks (Experience is optional though preferred).
