Manufacturing Extrusion Supervisor

Responsibilities:

• Supervise and support extrusion operators and material mixers to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality production output
• Ensure proper equipment setup, start-up, operation, shutdown, and changeovers to minimize downtime and prevent equipment issues
• Utilize control plans and oversee material testing, including familiarity with lab testing and injection molding processes
• Promote and enforce all company safety policies and procedures across the production floor
• Partner with operators to reduce scrap and improve operational efficiency
• Review and verify production documentation, including work orders and shift performance metrics
• Monitor, evaluate, and document employee performance to ensure alignment with company standards
• Support hiring, onboarding, training, coaching, and employee development initiatives
• Collaborate with Quality Control to address and resolve non-conforming materials
• Coordinate with warehouse personnel on raw material usage and finished goods movement
• Communicate production challenges, maintenance needs, and improvement opportunities to plant leadership
• Maintain 5S and cleanliness standards throughout all production areas
• Ensure clear and effective communication during shift transitions
• Provide hands-on support by performing duties of Extruder Operators and Material Mixers as needed
• Complete additional assignments as required
• Oversee and coordinate all aspects of plastics extrusion operations to ensure smooth and efficient production flow
• Monitor and maintain equipment performance, including twin screw extruders, press brakes, CNC lathes, and related fabrication machinery
• Lead quality assurance processes using precision measuring tools such as micrometers and calipers to confirm product specifications
• Apply lean manufacturing principles to minimize waste, streamline processes, and improve overall productivity
• Train and mentor team members on proper use of hand tools, PLC systems, and material handling procedures
• Perform routine inspections and basic maintenance on production equipment, including CNC machines, blow molding, and injection molding systems
• Enforce safety standards, including proper forklift operation and adherence to PPE requirements

Qualifications:

• Prior experience in a manufacturing or production supervisory role preferred
• Strong leadership, coaching, and team management capabilities
• Working knowledge of extrusion, molding, or similar manufacturing processes
• Ability to read, interpret, and verify production documentation
• Strong focus on safety, quality, and operational efficiency
• Excellent communication, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
