Oral Surgery Assistant

Summary of position: Primary job is to assist doctors with treating oral surgery patients. General knowledge of all oral surgery instruments and procedures is necessary. Assistant must be knowledgeable with the sterilization and decontamination process utilizing infection control and safety practices during all phases of the clinical processes. Assistant will be expected to provide an exceptional patient experience for new and existing clientele. General duties include but are not limited to, performing oral surgery procedures, taking X-rays, taking oral photos, obtaining digital scans, and delivering retainers. Also, assistants must have general knowledge and understanding of all other specialties performed in the practice including but not limited to, Orthodontics, Oral Surgery, and General Dentistry. General Responsibilities:

  • Clean, package and sterilize all instruments
  • Able to take necessary X-Rays
  • Turn over chairs/operatory after patient departures and be ready for next patient when scheduled
  • Collaborate with other team members to ensure proper flow of clinic
  • Assist in completing daily, weekly, and monthly checklists
  • Download pictures to patient charts
  • Able to multitask with various specialty clinics going on at once
  • Adhere to all company policies and protocols
  • Be present for and participate in all morning huddles
  • Familiar with instruments, different specialty instruments, and different procedure instruments
  • Maintains professional appearance appropriate to position and function

Tasks:

  1. Responsible for production columns and assist in procedures
  2. Set up instruments or trays needed for procedures
  3. Ensuring patient charts for responsible patients are and stay up to date before lunch and EOD
  4. Upload photos
  5. Assist with daily, weekly, and monthly to be completed
  6. All Scans have prescriptions for EasyRX

Qualifications/ Requirements:

  • Knowledge of sanitary, infection control, and safety standards sufficient to be able to perform all assignments with the safety parameters
  • Full time (32 hour+)
  • Able to shift between various specialties where practice needs exist
  • Will travel with oral surgery team as scheduled
  • Familiar with HIPPA & OSHA Guidelines
  • X-ray Certified
