Brown & Brown is seeking an Underwriter to join our growing team in Irvine, CA!

Under the supervision of the Operations Leader, the Underwriter facilitates client service, business retention and growth. This position requires the ability to work autonomously in performing duties requiring knowledge and understanding of the insurance field. This position is characterized by the exercise of discretion and independent judgment in organizing, scheduling and performing the work generated by the tasks assigned to you.

How You Will Contribute

  • Assist Operations Lines Manager in traveling and visiting existing agencies to maintain good relationships

  • Process Middle Market business including new, renewal, endorsements and misc.

  • Refer application to carrier if not eligible for in-house rating program

  • Rate and prepare Quote letter

  • Order loss runs

  • Assist producer in resolving billing / audit dispute

  • Research and take action as needed on outstanding accounting issues

  • Handle "Old Aged Receivable" weekly

  • Obtain additional underwriting information including needed target pricing

  • Determine market by following company underwriting guideline and pricing competitiveness; assign SIC & class code

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Active P&C license within 30 days of hire

Skills & Experience to Be Successful

  • 1-3 years' experience in a similar position (preferred)

  • Bachelor's degree in a business or financial related discipline (preferred)

  • High School Diploma

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Proficient with MS Office Suite

  • Positive attitude and commitment to working in a team environment

Pay Range

$33.65 - $33.65 Hourly

The pay range provided above is made in good faith and based on our lowest and highest annual salary or hourly rate paid for the role and takes into account years of experience required, geography, and/or budget for the role.
