Job Summary:
The Engineering R&D Lead plans, directs, and executes high-impact research and development projects requiring advanced expertise in electric power systems. This role develops innovative solutions to complex power system challenges and applies advanced engineering techniques to drive product and application improvements. The position interfaces directly with customers, participates in conferences, and delivers technical presentations. Strong communication and coordination skills are essential to provide expert guidance to engineering teams and senior management. This role may also represent the organization in external technical and industry discussions.

As an R&D Engineer, You Will:

• Develop innovative concepts and proposals for advanced electrical power system protection and control solutions.
• Perform and support power system studies, simulations, and technical analyses for customers and engineering teams.
• Create detailed engineering specifications, protection/control algorithms, and embedded system code.
• Design, test, and validate systems through simulation, prototyping, design reviews, and test data analysis.
• Establish design criteria to meet customer requirements and support project estimating and product quoting activities.
• Prepare technical documentation including theory of operation, design reports, and test records.
• Represent the engineering function internally and externally to customers, government agencies, and industry organizations.
• Supervise and coordinate engineers and technicians on assigned projects and travel as needed to support applications and business opportunities.

Skills/Requirements:

• 10 years' experience in electrical power systems protection and control design and/or analysis
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
• Proficient computer skills
• Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedures
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public

Education:

• BSEE degree or equivalent
