Summary
Performing HR-related duties on a professional level and works closely with senior HR management in the following functional areas: benefits, employee relations, training, performance management, onboarding, policy implementation, recruitment/employment, affirmative action, and employment law compliance.
Essential Job Functions
- Works closely with operational leaders, providing both HR guidance and a partnership that demonstrates an understanding of their business.
- Investigates and resolves employee relations issues, either directly or through advice to management. Investigates and drafts grievance replies as required.
- As a well-seasoned professional, handles most day-to-day problems independently.
- Manages HR Coordinator and HR Department Interns.
- Participates in the delivery of New Hire Orientation, as well as the updating and revising of materials with the HR Team.
- Provides guidance to Talent Acquisition to ensure pre-hire processes are effectively administered.
- Creates or assists in developing relevant data analytics tools from Company’s HRIS system.
- Produces compliance-related reports such as CES, EEO-1, AAP and VETS 4212.
- Identifies opportunities for improvement and works as part of the HR team to resolve problems.
- Participates in the development and delivery of HR-related curriculum and leadership development sessions.
- Takes the initiative to address inefficiencies and streamline processes, utilizing root cause analysis and continuous improvement. Takes the lead in managing such projects as appropriate.
- Reinforces Goodwill’s Mission, Employee Value Proposition and HR branding through work products and interactions.
- Collaborates with Learning & Development and the Director of Human Resources to facilitate organization development processes and initiatives.
- Develops process documentation and job aids to facilitate organization effectiveness and continuous improvement
- Assists in career development issues, discussing career paths with line managers and providing recommendations.
- Administers pay and benefits in coordination with Manager of Total Rewards.
- Supervises Record Retention process.
- Advises managers on personnel procedures and precedents.
- Attend ongoing educational opportunities, with Supervisor approval, to stay current on Federal, State and Local laws.
- Assists with planning Company events as requested.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Education and Experience – An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered.
- Four-year college degree preferred in Human Resources or Business Administration or 5+ years of experience in Human Resources.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities which may be representative, but not all-inclusive of those commonly associated with this position.
- Knowledge of employment laws to ensure all hiring practices are non-discriminatory and legally defensible.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Ability to perform extensive data entry into a Human Capital Management system.
- Strong interpersonal skills with all levels of management and applicants. Ability to give and follow written and oral instructions.
- Ability to effectively organize and prioritize work as well as concentrate on multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to work independently and make responsible decisions.
- Ability to use good judgment and think quickly and rationally in difficult or stressful situations.
Work Environment – Environmental or atmospheric conditions commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job.
- General office conditions. Exposed to moderate noise levels.
