Position Summary:
This position will focus on closing out client books using QBO, communicating with the client on their financials and with management on the status. Other duties include documenting monthly close processes, reviewing team members' monthly close work, interacting with clients by phone, email, and video calls, and problem-solving accounting and QuickBooks issues in a timely manner as they arise.
Senior Accountant Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Update client tasks in our project management app on a daily basis to ensure client’s monthly close meets deadlines.
- Track and log hours daily for consistency and transparency.
- Review the Client's books and document the close process.
- Documentation by preparing written documents and videos using GAAP accounting best practices and online tools for efficiency.
- Update as needed for changes in process.
- Training staff on the Monthly Close Process
- Perform monthly close tasks for multiple c lients in QBO.
- Reconcile accounts monthly to ensure accurate reporting and ledger maintenance.
- Code transactions on a weekly basis.
- Review team members’ monthly close work.
- Communicate in Slack, by phone, or by video meeting on client open items to resolve issues.
- Ability to resolve complex accounting and QuickBooks issues in a timely manner.
- Communicate with the clients’ CPAs on tax issues that come up during the year.
- Be proactive, be a resource, and train other team members on GAAP accounting best practices and QuickBooks issues when they arise.
- Analyze and review financials in a monthly video meeting with clients.
- Answer emails and phone calls from clients who have questions about their accounting and/or reports.
- Check email, calendar and Slack regularly and fill requests for reports or information during the day as needed. Respond timely to urgent requests.
- Be proactive in offering our tech stack of apps that can help with the back-office efficiency of our clients and recommend ways to reduce costs and enhance revenue.
- Meet with the supervisor on a weekly basis by video call. Report deliverables status on client deadlines, work tasks, and scope creep issues.
- Prepare sales tax returns and submit them online for clients with their approval.
- Prepare 1099s for clients at year-end.
- Any other duties assigned.
Qualifications:
Skills:
- Excellent oral and written communication skills

- Knowledge of Intuit Accounting Software and other financial software
- Advanced proficiency in Excel

Experience:
- CPA or Accounting Firm Experience
- 5+ Years in an accounting position, reviewing financials, and completing full cycle accounting close.
- 5+ Years of QuickBooks Online job experience and other financial software.
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree, accounting, business, or related certification
- QuickBooks Online Certified
Technical Skills:
- QBO, QB Desktop, NetSuite, Microsoft, Advanced Excel

Work Hours/Schedule
The standard work schedule aligns with Central Time (CST), between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
