Project Engineer

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with internal teams-engineering, sales, and customer service-as well as external customers and vendors to ensure successful completion of assigned programs and projects.
• Partner with customers and sales to define design requirements and identify cost-effective solutions, including materials and processes tailored to the application.
• Prepare cost estimates independently or in coordination with the estimating team; develop quotations and proposals for products, ensuring profitability and alignment with company capabilities. Utilize ERP systems as required.
• Manage new projects from concept through production, focusing on manufacturability, profitability, and fulfillment of customer specifications.
• Support manufacturing during the transition of projects from design to production, ensuring all engineering documentation-drawings, spec sheets, updated estimates, item masters, routings, and BOMs-is complete prior to transfer.
• Identify and develop business opportunities while resolving internal and customer-related challenges through research and application of new materials and processes.
• Conduct material and design testing to verify functionality and performance.
• Collaborate with the quality team to measure, inspect, and ensure parts meet specifications.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and increase profit margins.
• Perform additional duties as assigned to support company objectives.

Skills/Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a technical discipline, with 5-8 years of relevant manufacturing experience.
• Hands-on experience with ERP systems for quotes, proposals, and product release documentation.
• Knowledge of fiber molding and thermoform plastics.
• Strong understanding of foam and plastics converting methods and manufacturing processes.
• Familiarity with molding equipment, tooling, and production techniques.
• Experience with internal quality systems and, where applicable, third-party quality standards.
• Proficient in CAD software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and/or Mastercam.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Project.
