Key Responsibilities:Precision Operations: Drive and operate roll-off trucks to mechanically collect, exchange, or deliver containers to various customer sites and post-collection facilities.
Safety & Compliance: Strictly adhere to all DOT, OSHA, FMCSA, and EPA regulations. Follow safe operating practices, including Lock Out/Tag Out (LOTO) to ensure equipment integrity.
Equipment Care: Perform comprehensive daily pre- and post-trip inspections. Maintain accurate DOT logbooks and vehicle condition reports (VCRs) to ensure your truck is always road-ready.
Masterful Maneuvering: Expertly navigate trucks into and out of tight clearance spaces, utilizing mirrors and spatial awareness to back distances of 120+ feet safely.
Site Stewardship: Act as a professional representative of GFL. Clear any loose debris around containers to maintain a clean and safe environment for our customers and the public.
Vigilant Monitoring: Use sight and sound to monitor equipment for loose debris or mechanical issues during loading and unloading.
Education: High school diploma or GED preferred.
Licensure: Valid Commercial Drivers License (CDL), Class A or B.
Age: Must be at least 21 years of age.
Experience: Minimum of one (1) year of commercial driving experience OR a certificate from an accredited CDL school.
Compliance: Must meet all company criteria for safety-sensitive functions and demonstrate the ability to operate heavy equipment safely.
Technical Expertise: Deep understanding of truck components and basic maintenance requirements.
Safety Mindset: Ability to identify "unacceptable waste" (flammables, hazardous chemicals, etc.) before loading.
Communication: Ability to read, write, and follow complex instructions while providing excellent service to internal and external customers.
Physical Strength: Ability to exert muscle force to lift, push, pull, or carry objects up to 50 lbs. repetitively.
Outdoor Environment: Work outdoors 100% of the time, facing all weather conditions (heat, rain, snow).
Dynamic Movement: While driving accounts for 75% of the shift, the role requires climbing, stooping, kneeling, and the ability to move/push heavy containers.
High-Activity Settings: Constant exposure to motor vehicle traffic and loud, industrial environments.
Visual Precision: Excellent depth perception and peripheral vision are required for constant maneuvering in high-traffic and tight-clearance areas.
