Introduction
Our client is a small animal veterinary hospital in West Islip, New York, hiring a full-time Medical Director Veterinarian to lead an established, community-focused practice. The hospital is seeking an experienced veterinary leader who enjoys practicing advanced medicine while guiding medical quality, standards, and team development within a supportive and cohesive environment.

Working Hours / Rota
This is a full-time position. The hospital operates Monday from 8:00am to 8:00pm, Tuesday from 8:00am to 4:00pm, Wednesday through Friday from 8:00am to 8:00pm, and Saturday from 8:00am to 4:00pm.

Role Description and Responsibilities
The Medical Director Veterinarian will continue to practice clinical medicine while providing leadership and oversight of medical quality and patient care standards. Clinical responsibilities include advanced small animal medicine, dentistry, surgery, diagnostics, and preventive care. The role also involves setting medical direction, mentoring associate veterinarians, supporting clinical decision-making, and fostering a positive, collaborative hospital culture. This position is open to experienced veterinarians only and is suited to a leader who values teamwork, communication, and maintaining high medical standards.

Practice Details
This long-standing hospital has served its community for many years and is known for its stable, family-oriented culture and commitment to high-quality veterinary care. The practice provides comprehensive small animal services and is equipped with advanced technology including diagnostic imaging, ultrasound, Tonopen, dental radiography, an in-house pharmacy, and a fully equipped surgical suite. Services offered include advanced dental care, wellness and preventive medicine, vaccinations, parasite control, diagnostic testing, general and routine surgery, spay and neuter procedures, anesthesia, health exams and certificates, euthanasia services, and pet loss support. The practice environment emphasizes laughter, collaboration, and strong team relationships.

Team
The hospital is supported by a team of three tenured DVMs, three licensed veterinary technicians, a fully staffed client service team, and veterinary assistants. Candidate Requirements

• Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
• Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
• Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
