Title – Controls Engineer

In this role, you will support the commissioning, startup, operation, and ongoing maintenance of data center facilities systems at Tesla Giga Texas, with opportunities to expand into broader site-wide controls and facilities platforms over time. On a daily basis, you’ll design, develop, and maintain HMI and SCADA applications that interface with PLC-based control systems, ensuring reliable data exchange, visibility, and performance. You’ll collaborate closely with controls, facilities, IT, and operations teams to architect scalable automation tools, alarm management strategies, and networked monitoring solutions. You will participate in commissioning activities, troubleshoot system outages and failover events, and provide on-call support as needed. Additionally, you’ll help define and implement design standards that improve system usability and end-user experience, while training other engineering teams and stakeholders to effectively support and operate the deployed solutions.

Qualifications

• 2–4 years of hands-on experience designing and implementing SCADA and HMI systems
• Advanced proficiency with Ignition SCADA (Vision and Perspective modules) and modern high-performance graphics
• Familiarity with Siemens SCADA, HMI, and PLC programming
• Working knowledge of industrial controls network protocols such as Ethernet/IP, Profinet, and Modbus
• Experience commissioning and supporting HMI and SCADA systems in live production or facilities environments
• Proven ability to design fault-tolerant systems with robust error handling and recovery strategies
