Fabrication Manager

Responsibilities:

• Lead the fabrication department through direct, hands-on involvement in daily shop operations.
• Perform fabrication, fitting, and problem-solving tasks as required to support production needs.
• Serve as the subject matter expert for fabrication processes including welding, cutting, fitting, forming, and assembly preparation.
• Plan and coordinate shop activities to meet production schedules and delivery commitments.
• Interpret engineering drawings and specifications to ensure accurate execution.
• Enforce quality standards and minimize rework through proper methods and oversight.
• Establish and maintain standard operating procedures and safety practices.
• Monitor productivity, labor utilization, and workflow efficiency.
• Identify and implement process improvements to improve throughput and quality.
• Train, mentor, and develop fabrication personnel through hands-on coaching.
• Collaborate with engineering, materials, and assembly teams to resolve production issues.
• Maintain a safe, organized, and professional shop environment.
• Other duties as assigned.

Required Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field preferred; substantial hands-on fabrication experience considered in lieu of degree.
• Minimum of five (5) years of experience in a fabrication leadership role within a heavy manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Demonstrated ability to personally perform fabrication and fitting tasks in a production setting.
• Strong technical expertise in welding, cutting, fitting, forming, and blueprint interpretation.
• Proven experience improving shop efficiency, workflow, and quality.
• Ability to lead by example through hands-on technical involvement.
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across departments
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Ability to repeatedly lift up to 70 lbs.
• Ability to relocate to Bessemer, AL.
• Experience in heavy industrial or mining fabrication environments strongly preferred.

Salary: $75K-$85K annually
