Job Description
Job Overview:
Utility Composites, Inc. is looking for a self-reliant Maintenance Technician / Millwright to take full ownership of our equipment's health and facility uptime. In this role, you aren’t just a "repair person"—you are the technical backbone of our small, specialized operation. You will work independently to diagnose, prioritize, and execute repairs across our injection molding machines, auxiliary equipment, and some building systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Machine Reliability: Lead all preventive maintenance (PM) and emergency repairs for injection molding machines and auxiliary systems (dryers, granulators, conveyors, ovens, and loaders).
- Multidisciplinary Troubleshooting: Rapidly diagnose and fix complex mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues (including PLC and oil leak resolution).
- System Optimization: Partner with production and engineering to tweak machine performance and reduce cycle times or energy waste.
- Data Integrity: Maintain precise digital records of all PM activities and repairs within our maintenance management software.
- Facility Support: Manage light building maintenance, including HVAC filter/condensate care, lighting systems, and minor plumbing or security system repairs.
- Production Assistance: Support occasional mold assembly and set-up as needed by the production schedule.
Qualifications
- Expert Troubleshooter: Proven experience maintaining injection molding machinery (or similar) with a deep understanding of hydraulics and electrical schematics.
- Independent Operator: You can walk into a manufacturing facility, identify what needs fixing, and prioritize your day without a supervisor standing over your shoulder.
- Technical Literacy: Ability to read blueprints, technical manuals, and electrical schematics fluently.
- Physical Agility: Comfortable lifting up to 50 lbs and performing physical tasks that require squatting, climbing, and working in tight spaces.
- Detail-Oriented: A "do it right the first time" mentality.
Education & Experience
- Experience: 5+ years of hands-on experience in industrial maintenance (Mechanical, Electrical, Hydraulic).
- Niche Knowledge: 5 years of Plastics Processing experience is highly preferred.
- Education: High school diploma required; Technical degree or completion of an industrial apprenticeship (Military or Civilian) is preferred.
- Bonus Skills: PLC programming or advanced electronic troubleshooting is a major plus.
