Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Compensation Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience with workers' compensation claims and the ability to handle sensitive employee information.
Responsibilities
- Maintain current knowledge of Workers’ Compensation system, issues, and processes
- Maintain the company Workers’ Compensation Management Program policies and practices.
- Coordinate with the Workers’ Compensation Claims Manager, insured employers, employees, health care providers, and insurance carriers.
- Review, analyze, and monitor Workers’ Compensation claim data on behalf of the company and clients.
- Attend, participate, and advocate for client employers in claim review meetings.
- Prepare and provide in-person client claim review presentations, as needed.
- Maintain and prepare OSHA-required injury and illness records for client employers in our Workers’ Compensation Management program.
- Assist client employers with the coordination and implementation of Medical Provider Networks.
- Conduct Workers’ Compensation Best Practices and Injury Report training workshops for clients.
- In the claims database system, maintain and update daily Workers' Compensation activities, such as the claims activity diary.
- Provide clients employers support and guidance investigating injuries, settlement negotiations, developing interactive processes, and return to work strategies.
- Prepare and maintain client employer Workers’ Compensation injury report packets.
- Help with receiving, reviewing, and processing new injury reports, as needed.
- Monitor and report the appropriate usage of leave relative to Workers' Compensation benefits (i.e., track and report lost workdays).
- Forward new injury reports and claims to senior Risk Management personnel as necessary for evaluation of loss control involvement.
- In the claims database system, maintain and prepare relevant Workers' Compensation documentation (e.g., injury report forms, doctors' notes, claim acknowledgments).
- Maintain company Workers' Compensation insurance carriers' reporting information in the company's shared environment.
- Prepare estimated experience mod worksheets, as needed.
- Assume other job responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and insurance experience.
- Minimum eight (8) years of Workers’ Compensation insurance claims experience.
- Workers' Compensation Claims Administration (WCCA) and/or Workers' Compensation Claims Professional (WCCP) designation
- Communicate effectively in English, in written, oral or schedule form with others
- Maintain cordial and effective relationships with clients, co-workers, carriers, vendors and other business contacts
- Analytical and Mathematical skills
- Ability to solve practical problems
- Time management and organizational skills
- Computer literate
- Available and eligible to travel by all transportation methods, as needed
