The Registered Nurse Psychiatric Emergency Department delivers safe, patient-centered nursing care to adults and adolescents experiencing psychiatric or behavioral health emergencies. Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care to psychiatric patients in an emergency setting
  • Assess and monitor patient behavior, mood, and safety while maintaining therapeutic boundaries
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to implement treatment and safety plans
  • Administer medications and monitor effects per physician orders
  • Educate patients and families on care plans and community resources
  • Maintain accurate, timely documentation in compliance with hospital policies and regulatory standards

Qualifications

  • Education: Associates degree in Nursing required; RN Diploma with relevant experience accepted; BSN preferred
  • Licensure: Current Maryland Registered Nurse License
  • Certification: BLS American Heart Association required
  • Experience: Prior experience in psychiatric, behavioral health, emergency, or critical care preferred
