GENERAL PURPOSE

In a developing capacity and under direct supervision, applies fundamental engineering principles to support the design, documentation, and execution of custom product solutions. This role partners closely with engineering, manufacturing, and production teams to translate customer requirements into accurate product configurations, 3D models, and production-ready documentation.

The position is primarily desk-based and requires strong data accuracy and systems work; however, regular interaction on the manufacturing floor is required to collaborate with operators, validate designs, and support production implementation. Emphasis is placed on technical accuracy, data integrity, teamwork, planning, and timely execution of assigned projects.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Develops and maintains 3D models, drawings, and engineering documentation for custom products using approved engineering software.

Creates and maintains Bills of Materials (BOMs), routings, and product data in applicable systems, ensuring accuracy and completeness.

Translates customer or project requirements into manufacturable product configurations in partnership with engineering and production teams.

Reviews design requirements and performs basic engineering analyses to support product configuration and manufacturability.

Collaborates with manufacturing personnel and regularlyity visits the production floor to review designs, answer technical questions, and support implementation.

Documents assumptions, decisions, and design changes clearly and accurately.

Applies basic problem-solving techniques to address product configuration or production issues.

Supports feasibility reviews, cost inputs, and engineering change processes for custom products.

Adheres to established engineering, safety, and quality processes.

Seeks guidance and mentoring from senior engineers while building technical expertise.

Performs additional responsibilities as required to support business objectives.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Experience

Bachelor's degree in engineering, engineering technology, industrial design engineering, or related technical field OR

Associate degree in a related field with 3+ years of applicable engineering or product configuration experience.

Skills/Abilities

Experience with 3D modeling / CAD software (SolidWorks, Creo, AutoCAD, or similar) required.

Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage data-intensive work, including BOM and product structure maintenance.

Ability to communicate effectively with engineers, production operators, and leadership, translating technical concepts clearly.

Basic understanding of manufacturing processes and willingness to work hands-on with plant personnel when needed.

Familiarity with Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement concepts preferred.

Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple assignments and changing priorities.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office and engineering or ERP-related systems.

Must be able to perform all essential job functions with or without accommodation.
