POSITION SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • University Health is a large academic referral center which has the leading liver transplant program in the country, comprehensive stroke and cardiac care, level 1 trauma, level 4 NICU, and ECMO services for adult and pediatric populations
  • The Transplant clinical specialist will join a team of 7 transplant pharmacists and 4 technicians caring for patients on the inpatient and outpatient side
  • Position will provide rotating coverage of adult inpatient kidney, liver, and lung transplant, pediatric liver and kidney, and transplant ambulatory care
  • Professional opportunities include precepting PGY1 and PGY2 transplant residents, research, quality improvement, protocol development, meeting travel, and providing high level care in collaboration with multiple solid organ transplant disciplines

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

A Pharm.D. degree or a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from an ACPE-accredited School of Pharmacy is required. Completion of an ASHP-accredited Postgraduate Year Two (PGY2) Pharmacy Residency with at least 2 years of experience in specialty area or PGY1 plus 3 additional years of experience with at least 2 years in specialty area; or 5 years of experience with at least 2 years in specialty area, in health-system pharmacy) is required.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION

Current Pharmacy and Pharmacy Preceptor licensure, or eligibility for licensure, in the state of Texas is required. Certification by the Board of Pharmacy Specialties (as appropriate to specialty), approved certification or advanced degree is required.
