Description

Seeking a motivated Project Engineer to support our Field Services group for construction inspection and materials testing consulting. This role plays a key part in ensuring the quality, safety, and compliance of construction projects across the region. The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in civil or construction engineering, hands-on project management experience, and a desire to work closely with field technicians, clients, and contractors to deliver successful infrastructure and building projects.

Responsibilities:

-Lead and coordinate construction materials testing and inspection activities for a variety of infrastructure, transportation, commercial, and municipal projects.

-Serve as the primary point of contact for project stakeholders, including clients, contractors, subcontractors, and internal field teams.

-Develop project scopes, schedules, and budgets; ensure project deliverables meet required quality and performance standards.

-Review and interpret construction plans, specifications, geotechnical reports, and testing requirements.

-Provide technical guidance to field technicians performing concrete, soil, asphalt, and aggregate testing.

-Prepare and review daily field reports, test results, inspection documentation, and final project summaries.

-Conduct site visits to evaluate progress, verify compliance, and troubleshoot construction or materials-related issues.

-Assist with proposal development, cost estimating, and resource planning for upcoming projects.

-Ensure all work is completed in accordance with applicable local, state, and federal regulations (e.g., ODOT, ASTM, AASHTO, IBC).

-Promote a strong safety culture and adhere to all company and client safety programs.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Required:

-Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Construction Engineering Technology, or a related field.

-Prior experience managing or supporting construction projects, ideally with exposure to materials testing, QA/QC, or inspection.

-Strong understanding of construction processes, materials behavior, and project documentation workflows.

-Excellent communication and clientfacing skills with the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.

-Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specs, and testing standards.

-Valid drivers license and willingness to travel to job sites.

Plus:

-Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or ability to obtain within 12 months.

-Experience with DOT projects or public infrastructure (ODOT experience is a plus).

-Familiarity with ASTM/AASHTO testing methods.

-Knowledge of project management software or laboratory information management systems (LIMS).

-Previous experience supporting or supervising CMT field teams.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $55.00/hr.
