Overview
Position Summary: This role is responsible for leading the implementation of the environmental, health, and safety programs for two Marzetti manufacturing facilities in the Columbus, Ohio area. The EHS manager will ensure compliance with all applicable laws and corporate standards while driving a proactive safety culture. This role will partner with all plant level personal and corporate EHS to reduce risk and promote continuous improvement in environmental, health and safety.
Responsibilities
Promotes proactive safety participation by all employees and ensuring injuries, illnesses, incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions are reported and investigated.
Provide leadership to develop, implement and maintain environmental, health and safety programs and policies to meet or exceed compliance.
Conduct regular risk assessments and audits to identify potential safety hazards and environmental impacts.
Ensure all employees are trained on emergency procedures, hazard communication, personal protective equipment (PPE), and safe handling of materials and:
Deliver engaging environmental, health and safety training.
Lead incident investigations to determine their root causes and develop corrective actions.
Provide technical support and guidance and maintain all documentation essential to efficient operations of the EHS program.
Ensure timely submittal of all required reporting to regulatory agencies.
Develop and implement sustainable environmental practices, including waste management, recycling programs, and energy conservation efforts.
Coordinate EHS corrective actions from EHS/customer audits, regulatory inspections, incidents, and other assessments.
Maintain up-to-date documentation of safety audits, inspections, training, and incident reports.
Prepare and present regular reports to management and corporate EHS on safety performance, incident trends, and compliance status.
Work with management to implement improvements based on audit results, incident trends, and employee feedback.
Stay updated with industry best practices and implement strategies to improve overall safety and environmental performance.
Lead and develop the facility safety committee.
Coordinate drills, including fire drills, evacuation plans, and first aid training, to ensure employees are prepared for emergencies.
Performs other duties/responsibilities as assigned by management, including EHS&S tasks outside of safety and security duties.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a related field is preferred.
- Five (5) years of environmental, health, and safety experience in a manufacturing setting.
- Experience working in regulated environments with sanitation programs, hygiene controls and/or GMP environments is preferred.
- Demonstrated excellence in analytical and critical thinking skills, written and verbal communication skills, organizational skills and attention to detail.
- High proficiency in Microsoft Office Software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access) and extensive Internet search capabilities.
- Regulatory knowledge OSHA, EPA, state, and local requirements.
- Knowledge of workers' compensation requirements.

Working Conditions/Environment
Works in a normal office environment where the employee is regularly required to speak, see, hear, sit, stand, talk, type, walk and bend while moving about the facility. The noise level in the office is quiet. Occasional travel to plants or meetings is required.
