Position Summary:

The Dental Assistant (DA) will be responsible for general clinic administrative work and maintenance, as well as completing lab work under the direction of the Dentist. The DA’s primary responsibility is to prepare the examination rooms for appointments by sterilizing instruments and ensuring all necessary equipment is ready for the Dentist.

Responsibilities:

·  Chairside Assistance

• Assist the dentist during procedures (e.g., fillings, extractions, cleanings)
• Hand instruments and materials to the dentist
• Use suction devices to keep the patient's mouth dry and clear

·  Patient Care

• Prepare patients for treatment (e.g., draping, comforting, explaining procedures)
• Take and develop dental X-rays
• Take impressions of patients' teeth
• Apply topical anesthetics or fluoride under supervision (varies by region)

·  Sterilization and Infection Control

• Sterilize instruments and clean treatment rooms
• Disinfect surfaces to maintain a hygienic work environment
• Follow standard infection control protocols

·  Lab Duties (if required)

• Pour and trim dental impressions
• Make temporary crowns or dentures
• Polish crowns or removable appliances before placement
