The Position
The Senior Financial Analyst supports the organization's financial health and sustainability by providing accurate financial analysis, reporting, forecasting, and decision support. This role partners with program and leadership teams to improve financial performance, ensure compliance with donor and regulatory requirements, and strengthen long-term financial planning in support of the organization's mission.
What You'll Do
Financial Analysis & Reporting
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial analysis and management reports
- Perform budget-to-actual variance analysis and provide clear explanations and recommendations
- Develop dashboards, financial models, and key performance indicators (KPIs)
- Analyze revenue streams, program costs, and operational and cash flow trends
Budgeting & Forecasting
- Support the annual budget development process
- Prepare rolling forecasts and multi-year financial projections
- Assist with cash flow forecasting and liquidity planning
- Support strategic planning through scenario analysis
Grant & Program Financial Support
- Monitor program and grant budgets for compliance with donor restrictions
- Supports the Finance Grant Manager with program budget allocation updates
- Analyze grant financial performance and spending trends
- Support grant reporting and audits
- Provide financial reports and documentation related to program compliance and subcontractor audits
Operational & Advisory Support
- Partner with program and department leaders to improve financial decision-making
- Provide training and guidance on financial management best practices
- Provide training on financial management and budgeting software
- Identify risks, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement
Controls, Compliance & Process Improvement
- Support adherence to financial policies, procedures, and internal controls
- Assist with audit preparation and regulatory reporting
- Contribute to continuous improvement of financial systems and processes
OTHER
- Additional tasks, projects, job duties, and responsibilities assigned by supervisor
What You're Skilled At
- Experience in nonprofit, government, or grant-funded organizations
- Knowledge of cost allocation and grant compliance
- Experience with ERP or nonprofit accounting systems

- Maintain and execute confidential information according to HIPPA standards
- Obtain and maintain CPR/First Aid Certification

- This position does not require regular driving as part of daily duties but may be needed occasionally

- Ability to work a hybrid work schedule

Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field
- 5-7 years of experience in financial analysis, accounting, or nonprofit finance
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and nonprofit accounting principles (ASC 958 preferred)
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and financial systems
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a mission-driven environment
