Job Posting – Head Chef Instructor

Position:

Head Chef Instructor

 

We are a cooking school looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Head Chef Instructor. We focus on offering recreational cooking classes, weekly programs, private events, and more - and we need someone to help manage, run, and lead the back of house. You'll be working primarily with our chef assistants during hands-on events and with our administrative staff to help cover our schedules, logistics, and content. We'll provide brief training on how our school operates. We’ve got a winning and proven track record and we need you to lead it! If you have previous experience and have a passion for great food, we’d like to meet you. We need someone who lives locally and will not have to commute across town.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Lead, teach, and manage our most integral classes, programs, private events, etc.
  • Guide and instruct kitchen staff on how to best operate events, cover menus, and work crowds
  • Staff and send weekly schedules for staff members
  • Purchase, order, and organize the school’s inventory
  • Provide ideas, menus, and curriculum for potential new classes and events for the school to offer
  • Vet and hire new kitchen employees who have respective qualifications
  • Attend routine staff meetings and help plan out upcoming weeks and months
  • Help administrative staff develop strategic plans to ensure long-term goals are met and maximized
  • Help prep certain items and ingredients for overall use (ex: chicken stock, demi-glace)

Qualifications:

  • Roughly a decade of experience of working in the kitchen
  • At least four years as a lead chef
  • Professional comprehension of fine dining and cuisine
  • Good knowledge of wine
  • Experience as an instructor for attentive crowds
  • Ability to operate without direct supervision
  • Excellent customer service, organization, and communication skills
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekend shifts
  • Encouraging attitude that motivates customers, guests, and students
  • Leadership skills to help direct staff members efficiently and professionally
