Join our team as a Quality Analyst I, where you will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and safety of food products. You will be responsible for collecting and testing samples, conducting quality checks, and maintaining lab equipment. This position offers the opportunity to work in a close-knit team environment with room for growth.
Responsibilities- Collect and test samples of ingredients, products, or packages according to established procedures.
- Conduct testing, including ph, viscosity, titrations, product color via colorimeter, density, acid, salt, and sensory evaluation of product taste, aroma, and appearance versus control sample.
- Perform quality checks on the production floor, verifying the accuracy of unit codes and case codes, proper application of unit and case labels, weighing samples, conducting metal detector checks, and ensuring sanitary conditions throughout the manufacturing process.
- Monitor processes to ensure they are operating correctly and consistently.
- Document all results neatly and precisely.
- Label and maintain product retention samples to monitor the product throughout its established shelf life.
- Organize collected data for management review.
- Maintain lab equipment in a clean and orderly fashion.
- Communicate non-compliant results immediately to management.
- Monitor plant compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
- Accurately weigh ingredients, colors, flavorings, and seasonings.
- Test R&D samples for food safety and specification development.
- Conduct other duties as assigned by the plant QA Supervisor or QA Manager.
- Experience in wet chemistry and wet chemistry lab settings.
- Knowledge of quality control, quality assurance, and GMPs.
- AS or BS in Science, or non-degreed with one year of wet chemistry lab experience.
The candidate should be comfortable with a loud lab environment and strong food smells. The lab culture is team-oriented with a family feel. The lab is small, and the candidate will work alongside a few other technicians and report to the supervisor. The dress code is casual, with t-shirts and jeans acceptable. A lab coat will be issued upon hire. No jewelry, watches, false eyelashes, fingernail polish, plastic bobby pins, or similar items are permitted. The shift is the 1st Shift Weekend (Friday - Sunday, 3:30 AM - 4:00 PM).
