Introduction
Our client is a full-service animal hospital in Dunnellon, Florida, hiring an Associate Veterinarian to join a long-established, community-focused practice. The hospital has been serving the local area for decades and is known for delivering compassionate, high-quality veterinary care while maintaining strong relationships with clients and the surrounding community.
Working Hours / Rota
The hospital operates Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 5:30pm and Saturday from 8:00am to 1:00pm, with the practice closed on Sundays. The hospital is also closed on major holidays including New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. Both full-time and part-time options are available. After-hours or on-call requirements are to be discussed with the practice.
Role Description and Responsibilities
The Associate Veterinarian will be responsible for providing comprehensive patient examinations and medical work-ups, performing diagnostic procedures and surgery, and delivering clear and compassionate client communication and education. Clinical duties include maintaining accurate medical records, prescribing medications while following controlled substance protocols, monitoring hospitalized cases, and participating in daily rounds when possible to ensure high standards of care. The role also involves promoting teamwork and staff efficiency, collaborating with hospital leadership on daily and weekly priorities, evaluating and monitoring hospital protocols from intake through discharge, and participating in ongoing practice management updates and training. This position is open to experienced veterinarians only.
Practice Details
This hospital has been an integral part of its community since 1973 and operates with a strong family-oriented culture focused on teamwork, support, and consistency of care. The practice offers a broad range of services including routine and preventive care, dental care and dental surgery, soft tissue surgery, spaying and neutering, emergency care, boarding, geriatric care, reproductive services including C-sections, ocular procedures, mass removals, wound management, and foreign body cases. The caseload is varied and well-supported, allowing veterinarians to practice high-quality medicine in a collaborative and well-organized environment.
Team
The hospital is supported by a team of five DVMs and a great tenured support staff. The environment is highly collaborative and team-driven, with strong peer support and shared responsibility across busy clinical days.
Candidate Requirements
- Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
- Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
- Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
