SAFETY AND COMPLIANCE MANAGER
Job Overview
Franklin’s Earthmoving, Inc., EEOC is currently seeking an experienced, bilingual Safety Manager to oversee the company-wide safety operations. The ideal candidate will have extensive prior experience in the safety manager position for a heavy civil construction company, performing commercial, residential and public works including mass grading, underground wet utilities, concrete, and asphalt paving. All work is local. No out-of-town travel is required.
Safety Manager will be responsible for the following:
- Ensure a safe work environment while maintaining compliance with all safety policies and procedures using the appropriate tools and equipment for the task.
- Properly follow all company policies and OSHA/MSHA/DOT regulations for safe working procedures and environment.
- Provide required safety training and certifications as needed
- Conduct new-hire orientations
- Conduct company-wide safety meetings as required.
- Protect and promote the interest of the company in all matters and act as required to satisfy such responsibilities.
- Work closely with OSHA/MSHA/DOT/Pipeline Safety Bureau/NM811, along with third-party safety entities to ensure the company’s compliance with required regulations
- Visit and monitor job sites safety, keeping employees, equipment and the public safe
Experience
- Minimum 10 years of related experience in heavy civil construction site safety and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Extensive experience with MSHA, OSHA & DOT Regulations, Pipeline Safety Bureau, Line Spots, and Traffic Control.
- Possess the ability to identify jobsite safety hazards.
- Proven ability to develop relationships and to work with teams as both a leader and a participant.
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills; building rapport, listening, presenting, giving and receiving feedback.
- Possess a high standard of ethics, integrity and trust.
Minimum Requirements
- Fluent in both English and Spanish
- Must pass pre-employment drug screen, physical, criminal background check and E-Verify.
- Must possess and maintain a current, valid NM driver’s license with a clean MVR.
- Practice strict adherence to company and jobsite safety requirements and procedures outlined in the Employee Handbook.
- In the event of emergency, must be available during non-traditional work hours.
- Must be able to work independently and with groups.
- Must be able to work under time constraints as needed.
- Must display a professional and courteous attitude toward co-workers, supervisors, inspectors, federal agencies, subcontractors and the public always.
- Possess (not limited to) Confined Space, TCS, Competent person, OSHA 500 Certifications
Physical Requirements
- Able to stand for long periods, walk long distances across rough/uneven terrain, full use of hands and fingers to manipulate objects or controls, climb ladders, kneel, crouch, crawl, mount and dismount heavy construction equipment and DOT vehicles.
- Vision abilities (with or without correction) include close, distance, peripheral, depth, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Able to safely drive a vehicle.
- Able to work extended hours if required.
- Able to work in all weather conditions.
