Senior Perl/Java Developer

Seeking a Sr Software Developer for application development and migration from Perl/MySQL to Java/React/MariaDB on an AWS platform.
Duration: contract position/through 6-30-26 with extension(s)
Work location: Columbus, OH (hybrid: at least 3 days a week onsite)
*Must reside in central Ohio (preferably the Columbus metropolitan area)*

Responsibilities: -System design & architecture: In collaboration with the development lead develop overall software architecture, define components, select frameworks, and choose technologies.
-Technical leadership: Guide development teams, provide direction, mentor junior developers, and oversee project execution.
- Collaboration: Work with stakeholders to understand requirements and align technical strategy with business goals.
- Code quality & standards: Lead code reviews, enforce design patterns, and ensure adherence to best practices.
-Troubleshooting & optimization: Resolve complex technical issues, identify performance bottlenecks, and ensure system scalability and resilience.
-Documentation: Create and maintain architectural documentation, technical specifications, and design decisions.

Duties:
-Designing and architecting Java applications for an AWS environment
-Managing a large, mission-critical software implementation for a public owner
-Communicating, analyzing, and reporting on status, features, upgrades, backlog
-Using AI to facilitate application development and testing
-Application modernization on an AWS or Azure platform
-Communicating, analyzing, and resolving technical development issues and risks
-Designing test plans and testing Java applications
-Using AI to facilitate application development and testing
-Application modernization on an AWS or Azure platform.

Skill/requirement/years of experience:
-Expertise in all versions of the Perl programming language -Required-12 years
-Full-stack development using Java and React- Required-12 years
-Exp. with MySQL and MariaDB databases -Required-12 years
-Design and architecture of Java applications in AWS environments- Required-12 yrs
-Large, mission-critical software implementations for public-sector -Required-12 yrs
-Analysis & reporting on project status, features, upgrades & backlog- Required-12 yrs
-Construction Management subject-matter expertise- Highly desired
