Job Information: Child Care Teacher

Location: Richmond, VA 23298

Shift: 7.5-hour shift between 6 AM – 8 PM (Mon–Fri)

 

Job Summary

The Child Care Teacher will use the Reggio Emilia approach to plan and deliver engaging, age-appropriate learning experiences for children aged 6 weeks to 6 years. The role focuses on creating a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment that supports children’s cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement creative lesson plans for assigned classroom
  • Monitor, document, and report children’s progress to parents
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and health-compliant classroom environment
  • Support children’s self-esteem, independence, and overall development
  • Supervise aides and volunteers
  • Follow licensing, accreditation, and safety guidelines
  • Collaborate with teachers, staff, and leadership
  • Participate in staff meetings, training, and continuing education

Education Requirements

Required:

  • Associate degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Psychology, or related field OR
  • High School Diploma with 40 hours of ECE-related coursework OR
  • Equivalent education and experience

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in Early Childhood or Elementary Education

Certifications (Preferred)

  • Child Development Associate (CDA)

Experience & Skills

Required:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience working with children (6 weeks–6 years)
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, noisy environment
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and multitasking skills

Preferred:

  • Experience with infants (6 weeks–2 years)
  • Knowledge of the Reggio Emilia approach
