Mondelez International - Chicago Bakery is a manufacturer of biscuits and crackers. The products are produced, unitized, and stored at the facility for shipment to various Distribution Centers and customers throughout the United States and Canada.
As part of the Process Quality Team, the Shift Process Quality Lead provides on-shift quality leadership to support safe, compliant, and consistent execution of manufacturing operations. Reporting to the Process Quality Manager, this role serves as the sole Quality representative on the processes, and first response to quality events.
The Shift Process Quality Lead partners closely with Operations to manage quality risk as it arises, ensures disciplined execution of food safety and quality standards, and escalates trends or systemic issues to the broader Quality organization for follow-up and prevention.
How you will contribute
Provide on-shift quality leadership, serving as the first responder for Quality during the shift.
Execute shift-level quality processes to ensure compliance with food safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.
Conduct pre-operational inspections during the shift, ensuring findings are documented, addressed, and escalated according to standard process.
Execute quality hold, release, and disposition activities during the shift in alignment with established standards.
Lead initial containment and investigation activities for quality deviations, including extraneous matter, out of spec product, defective material, and GMP-related events, ensuring accurate data capture and timely escalation.
Ensure quality documentation and records are completed accurately, maintained, and effectively handed over between shifts.
Drive consistent execution of GMPs and quality standards on the production floor through observation, coaching, and immediate corrective actions.
Own execution of shift-specific process ownership responsibilities, with scope defined by the Process Quality Manager and varying by shift.
Partner with Operations Shift Leads and line leads to reinforce operational ownership of quality outcomes.
Identify, document, and escalate recurring issues, emerging risks, or systemic gaps to the Process Quality Manager.
Participate in daily DMS routines and provide quality input to shift and site forums as required.
Support execution of corrective actions assigned to the shift and ensure timely follow-through.
Ensure effective shift-to-shift handoff of quality status, risks, holds, and open actions.

Strong understanding of GMPs, quality systems, and shop-floor execution.
Ability to make sound, risk-based decisions independently.
Comfort operating as the sole quality authority in a fast-paced, on-shift environment.
Strong communication skills and ability to influence without direct authority.
High level of accountability, judgment, and follow-through.
More about this role
Education / Certifications:
Associate's Degree or Bachelor's Degree in Food Science, Quality, Manufacturing, or related field preferred, or equivalent experience.
Job specific requirements:
3-5 years of experience in quality, food safety, or manufacturing roles.
Experience executing quality holds, investigations, and documentation.
Willingness to work assigned production shift (1st, 2nd, or 3rd shift).
Familiarity with quality systems and regulatory requirements (e.g., QCMS, HACCP, FSSC) preferred.
Work schedule:
Day shift WE A Shift: S-S - M 7am to 7pm F: Alternates every week 6am-10am/11am-3pm
