Role Overview

This role supports the Ohio Department of Medicaid (ODM) and provides SAS Administrator Technical Services . The position is responsible for the design, implementation, administration, support, and optimization of enterprise SAS environments , including SAS Enterprise BI and SAS Viya , while working closely with infrastructure, security, networking, and storage teams.

Key Responsibilities

Design SAS solutions such as SAS Viya and SAS Enterprise BI (EBI) , considering:
- Infrastructure
- File structure
- High availability
Advise stakeholders on SAS solution and implementation decisions
Implement SAS solutions based on approved architecture and design
Coordinate implementation projects across:
- Server teams
- Storage teams
- Networking teams
Guide and support SAS users in:
- SAS code development
- SAS report development
Prepare and execute deployment plans across:
- Development
- Test
- Production environments
Establish best practices for SAS implementation and support
Provide and oversee SAS support, including:
- User administration
- Monitoring
- Capacity management
- Troubleshooting
Drive SAS support activities across server, storage, and networking teams
Train and coach backup SAS administrators
Create automated processing jobs on the SAS Server to meet business needs
Work with internal provisioning and authorization teams to ensure SAS access complies with:
- Agency policies
- Auditing standards
Provide reports, metrics, and presentations to various teams and leadership
Create architecture diagrams and process-flow diagrams as required
Create and maintain connectivity to disparate data sources, including:
- Oracle
- MS SQL
- Hadoop
- Impala
- Network shares
Facilitate data sharing and exchanges with internal and external entities
Continuously monitor production processes, resolve issues, update tracking documents, and report performance issues to management
Perform performance tuning on SAS Servers as required
Demonstrate strong familiarity with SAS tools and train/instruct SAS users
Understand and write SAS programs , diagnose coding errors, and resolve performance issues
Create service tickets and coordinate fixes with:
- SAS Technical Support
- State IT teams
- External IT entities
Provide solutions to eliminate single points of failure
Perform:
- System maintenance
- Patching
- Upgrades
- Data backups
Work with SAS Institute staff on:
- Fixes
- Remediation
- Enhancements
- Planning upgrades and performance improvements
Research and provide recommendations to management
Install, configure, and implement software as requested
Work with AIX administrators to perform installation and configuration tasks
Stay current with SAS analytical tools, including:
- Forecast Studio
- Enterprise Guide
- Enterprise Miner
- PC SAS
- Other SAS tools
Monitor SAS Enterprise BI servers and diagnose performance issues
Provision user and group access on:
- SAS Servers
- AIX Servers
- In accordance with ODM governance procedures
Create and run AIX scripts and jobs for server provisioning and administration
Perform server patching and maintenance
Provide system sizing inputs during architecture and system design to ensure workloads are met

Required Skill Sets

Education:
- BS/BA degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience Requirements:
- 8+ years of SAS Enterprise BI Server administration
- 2+ years of SAS Viya platform administration
- 8+ years installing SAS BI Server from scratch on a multi-tier platform
- 2+ years of SAS Viya administration in an architect capacity
- 4+ years creating and running AIX scripts and jobs for server provisioning
- 4+ years performing server patching and maintenance
Strong experience in:
- Designing and configuring SAS internal folder structures
- Providing management reports from SAS Server and AIX OS
- Implementing standard security policies for SAS Server and SAS clients
- User provisioning and access to datasets and database connections
Experience using:
- Visio
- Excel
- PowerPoint
- Word
Effective communication, presentation, and organizational skills
Familiarity with Project Management methodologies
Ability to:
- Create and execute written project plans
- Establish priorities and follow through on projects
- Work with minimal supervision while paying close attention to detail

Ability to recommend improvements across:
- SAS Server

- SAS User analytic procedures

Experience with SAS AUTH provisioning
Experience using Directory Services :
