Associate Veterinarian and New Graduate Program  (What makes this role special)

At Tandem, we support New Graduates and Associate Veterinarians with structure, coaching, and a supportive team. You’ll receive:

Key Responsibilities

As an Associate Veterinarian, you will provide compassionate, high-quality care while building confidence and clinical independence in a supportive environment.

  • High-Quality Care: Perform thorough and compassionate physical examinations, ensuring minimal stress for pets while practicing gold-standard medicine.

  • Effective Communication: Clearly and empathetically communicate findings and treatment recommendations to pet owners, ensuring they are well informed and confident in their pet’s care plan.

  • Proactive Preventive Care: Administer vaccinations and preventive treatments in alignment with Tandem’s philosophy of proactive health management.

  • Advanced Diagnostics: Utilize cutting-edge diagnostic tools, including imaging and lab equipment, to provide high-quality care and accurate results.

  • Collaborative Practice: Work closely with other clinical team members to create and implement customized treatment plans tailored to each patient’s needs.

  • Uphold Clinical Standards: Stay current with industry best practices, maintain compliance with licensing regulations, and champion Tandem’s culture of continuous learning.

  • Contribute to Process Improvements: Offer insights into clinic workflows, technology enhancements, and protocol updates to help shape Tandem’s evolving model.

Depending on your comfort level and training plan, you may also have opportunities to grow into surgery and dentistry with mentorship and coaching.

Qualifications

  • Educational Background: Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from an accredited institution.

  • Licensing: Eligible for veterinary licensure in Massachusetts or able to obtain before the start date.

  • Experience: Veteranrians with 0-2 years of experience are encouraged to apply - this role is designed to support early-career veterinarians.

  • Animal Handling: Proficiency (or willingness to learn) safe and compassionate handling and restraint techniques.

  • Technical Proficiency: Comfort using modern veterinary software, diagnostic tools, and AI-powered systems.

  • Client Communication: Ability to explain medical information clearly and empathetically.

  • Team Player Mindset: Enthusiastic about a collaborative culture that values feedback, mentorship, and shared growth.

  • Flexibility: Willingness to work in various clinical settings (mobile, telehealth, hospital) and shifts, including evening and weekend shifts as needed.

  • Commitment to Preventive Care: Passion for educating pet owners and engaging in proactive, wellness-oriented strategies.
