Join Our Team as an Executive Chef / Chef de Cuisine at Bighorn River Resort!

Are you a seasoned chef looking to step back from high-stress kitchens and focus on creativity? Bighorn River Resort in Yellowtail Montana is an Orvis Endorsed Lodge, serving outdoor enthusiasts for 30 years. Our small, upscale, and privately owned lodge is located on 100 private acres, offering the perfect setting for a mature, team-oriented chef to showcase their culinary skills.

Daily Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and execute dinner for 6-14 guests, five nights per week
  • Execute daily menus that emphasize seasonal ingredients, elegant, artistic and thoughtful presentation.
  • Manage all aspects of the dinner serivce including breads, desserts, meat, fish, stocks, sauces, soups, salads, charcuterie and cheese
  • Accommodate special dietary needs and guest preferences with care and attention
  • Handle purchasing, stocking, and pantry management
  • Collaborate with a small team to deliver exceptional dining experiences

Required Skills:

  • Minimum of 15 years of culinary experience, with lodge or private experience preferred
  • Strong menu planning and kitchen management skills
  • Expertise in food quality and food cost management
  • Experience in menu development and fine dining
  • Knowledge of sanitation practices, food safety, and ServSafe certification
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and work in a hands-on kitchen environment.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

The Bighorn River Resort is an owner-operated Orvis Lodge on the Famed Bighorn River, offering a unique opportunity to serve guests beautiful food in a relaxed environment. Our focus is on fly-fishing and upland bird hunting, with a boutique property hosting up to 14 guests for fishing and hunting experiences. The kitchen is a place to shine for the culinary-inspired, with a casual fun atmosphere and a small team dedicated to providing exceptional customer service and fine dining.

Salary and Benefits:

Competitive salary, housing, and gratuities provided. Seasonal position from April 1st through November 31st with a retainer available for December through March. Husband/Wife teams are welcome, with additional positions available.
