Responsibilities:
- Supervise day-to-day production operations to achieve optimal yields, quality standards, scheduling efficiency, and gross margins.
- Delegate work assignments, prioritize duties, and schedule employees to support production and sanitation needs.
- Train and support employees to achieve maximum productivity and quality performance.
- Lead initiatives related to loss prevention, risk management, USDA compliance, and labor relations.
- Promote employee engagement, teamwork, and proactive communication.
- Partner with Human Resources on recruitment, onboarding, training, development, and retention of qualified staff.
- Champion training and succession planning to support long-term operational success.
- Ensure employees meet performance standards including productivity, attendance, safety, and quality metrics.
- Communicate daily operational priorities, seasonal needs, and business updates to team members.
- Collaborate with Operations Manager and fellow supervisors to monitor yields, efficiencies, quality metrics, and variances.
- Evaluate production processes and recommend continuous improvement initiatives involving equipment, staffing, and workflow.
- Serve as a technical resource for production, quality, and operational problem resolution.
- Conduct routine production floor inspections to identify unsafe acts or conditions and take corrective action.
- Participate in safety meetings, incident investigations, audits, and root cause analysis.
- Train employees on safe operating procedures and plant safety standards.
- Maintain departmental supplies, tools, and equipment.
- Ensure accurate completion of production documentation including corrective actions, performance records, inventory, inspections, quality reports, and maintenance work orders.
- Maintain working knowledge of products and equipment to ensure adherence to specifications throughout the manufacturing process.
- Ensure compliance with HACCP and USDA regulations, implementing corrective or training actions as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Operations, Management, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of three (3) years of progressive leadership experience in commercial food operations.
- Previous food processing or protein-industry experience preferred.
- Manufacturing knowledge with understanding of yields, efficiencies, and operational procedures.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and industry reporting systems.
- Strong leadership, mentoring, and coaching skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively, including discussions involving sensitive or potentially controversial topics.
- Strong written communication skills with attention to grammar and documentation accuracy.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Competent mathematical skills including percentages, ratios, and production metrics.
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
