Description
The Lead Engineer has overall responsible for the control of all tooling / dies in the Stamping Department (design, development, maintenance, repair & utilization).
- Collaborates with company leadership to establish business objectives, develop tooling strategies, and coordinate the design and development of tooling with both domestic and Japanese suppliers.
- Reviews tooling records to assess overall utilization and efficiency against the plan, analyzing data to ensure targets and objectives are properly set and achieved.
- Leads and coordinates programs to determine funding requirements for new tooling-whether for new models or replacement of existing models-to maximize ROI and improve productivity.
- Oversees the operations and activities of die maintenance associates, ensuring required preventive maintenance and tooling repairs are completed effectively.
- Performs all responsibilities in compliance with organizational policies and applicable laws.
- Stays informed on costsaving opportunities and fully utilizes relevant programs.
- Ensures inventory control and purchasing processes are properly implemented and functioning as intended.
- Assists in resolving issues for both customers and internal teams.
- Completes special projects as assigned.
- Evaluates the job performance of subordinates (Tool & Die Maintenance associates), identifying areas for improvement and potential opportunities for advancement.
- Mentors team members while maintaining order, professionalism, and discipline among associates.
- Adheres to company directives.
- Performs additional duties as required or assigned.

Additional Skills & Qualifications
MUST HAVEs
- 10+ years of professional experience in a manufacturing environment involving stamping operations and die maintenance.
- Strong expertise in tooling and die design, development, maintenance, repair, and utilization.
- 5+ years of supervisory experience leading tooling/die maintenance teams in a similar capacity.
- Ability to review and analyze tooling utilization records, efficiency metrics, and operational data to ensure goals and objectives are met.
- Demonstrated experience coordinating tooling strategies and development efforts with domestic and Japanese suppliers.
- Proven ability to determine funding requirements for new and replacement tooling, with emphasis on ROI evaluation and productivity improvement.
- Working knowledge of preventive maintenance processes and troubleshooting methods for tooling and dies.
- Strong skills in cost analysis and negotiation related to tooling procurement and die-related purchases.
- Ability to interpret written, oral, diagrammatic, and schedule-based instructions, along with applied math skills (basic algebra & geometry).

The pay range for this position is $80000.00 - $100000.00/yr.
