Responsibilities:
  • Develop, implement, and enforce comprehensive safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including OSHA and EPA requirements.
  • Lead and oversee critical safety programs such as Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Confined Space Entry, Hazard Communication, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and Machine Guarding.
  • Perform routine safety inspections, audits, risk assessments, and Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) to identify and mitigate workplace risks.
  • Investigate workplace incidents, accidents, and near misses; conduct root cause analyses and drive corrective and preventive actions.
  • Maintain accurate and compliant records of safety inspections, incident reports, and training documentation.
  • Plan, coordinate, and deliver safety training for new hires, existing employees, and contractors to ensure ongoing compliance and awareness.
  • Track, analyze, and report key safety performance metrics, including TRIR, DART, and near-miss trends, to senior leadership.
  • Foster a proactive safety culture across all departments and shifts through visible leadership, engagement, and accountability.
  • Lead emergency preparedness and response efforts, coordinating with external agencies when required.
  • Ensure proper availability, use, and maintenance of safety equipment and PPE.
  • Manage workers' compensation cases in collaboration with Human Resources and insurance providers

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related discipline; equivalent experience will be considered.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of safety leadership experience in heavy manufacturing, steel, automotive, or industrial environments.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of OSHA 1910 regulations and industrial safety best practices.
  • Strong understanding of environmental health and safety standards, industrial hygiene principles, and ergonomics.
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively, lead training initiatives, and influence safe work behaviors.
  • Demonstrated expertise in incident investigation techniques and root cause analysis methodologies.
