Job Description
Metro Water Recovery in Denver, CO -a nationally recognized leader among clean water utilities, provides wastewater conveyance and treatment servicing over 2 million people in the Denver Metro area.
The Maintenance Reliability Engineer applies technical knowledge to deliver continuous improvement in process and asset reliability through the detection and elimination of defects. Responsible for implementing the asset management strategy at Metro. Identifies root causes of equipment failure to ensure corrections are made for future work. Works under the direction of the Maintenance Program Manager. Supervises the work of reliability staff.
Examples of Duties:
- Responsible for the implementation and maintenance of asset management programs at Metro. Supervises staff, develops procedures for implementation of reliability of practices for critical assets. Reviews and develops maintenance strategies for various asset classes. Develops and reviews failure codes for assets classes.
- Supports the planning and delivery of asset management with emphasis on reliability, defect elimination, shutdown management and operational readiness. Review project specifications and technical design standards for the inclusion of reliability tools for critical assets as defined by Asset Management guidelines.
- Analyze, track and monitor data from various sources and systems, such as SCADA and data collection tools, to identify root causes of pending failures and improvement opportunities for critical assets. Prepare periodic reports on preventative maintenance and performance metrics.
- Utilizes reliability analysis tools and techniques to perform equipment condition analysis. Makes recommendations on equipment repairs, additional monitoring requirements and identify training needs. Prepares routine summary of findings.
- Participates in the PAR process by assisting with study, design, and implementation phases, as well as pre-construction and ongoing project meetings. Participates in operational readiness testing to ensure monitoring tools and equipment are functioning as designed. Reviews shop drawing submittals, identifies and develops preventative and predictive maintenance activities and establishes spare parts levels.
- Advises the Maintenance Program Manager of critical and continuing maintenance problems. Submits regular reports of defect elimination summary reports for distribution to appropriate Metro staff.
- Uses computer system to create work requests, requisition parts and supplies and assists in the development of recommended inventory levels based on criticality and experience.
- Coordinates maintenance work with maintenance supervisors and personnel of other departments when necessary.
- Recommends and assists with updates, changes, and establishment of drawings, schematics, SCADA screens and equipment O&M manuals.
- Support the development of annual budget needs related to reliability tools, equipment, training and recommended program changes.
- Performs, coordinates RCA with process engineering, operations, maintenance and presents findings for continuous improvement and cost savings initiatives.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Education
Bachelor’s degree or relevant experience in Business, Engineering, Project Management or related field. A combination of education and relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
