Job Description

At Abercrombie & Fitch, we are a leading global retailer serving millions of customers across digital and in-store touchpoints. The Senior UX Designer Design Systems plays a pivotal role in shaping the future of our digital ecosystem across global brands. As part of A&Fs Digital Product Design team, youll lead the evolution of our latest Design System, ensuring consistency, scalability, localization and accessibility across responsive web, native apps (iOS/Android), and emerging platforms.

This role is highly collaborative, partnering with UX designers, engineers, product managers, and brand teams to deliver a token-driven, Figma-based system that powers seamless, inclusive experiences for millions of users worldwide.

What Will You Be Doing?

  • Evolve the Design System: Define visual language, interaction patterns, and component standards leveraging Figma libraries, design tokens, and variable-based theming for multi-platform scalability.
  • Implement a sophisticated token architecture: Drive adoption of semantic tokens for style foundations to ensure consistency across web and native environments.
  • Collaborate with engineering: Partner with developers to integrate tokens into codebases and ensure parity between design and production using tools like Figma Rest API and Storybook.
  • Maintain robust documentation: Create clear, accessible guidelines for components, patterns, and usage principles in Figma.
  • Champion accessibility and inclusivity: Validate components against WCAG standards and ensure global usability.
  • Mentor and foster design system culture: Host office hours, tutorials, and workshops to teach best practices for implementing the Design System in their workflows and designs.
  • Foster design education and community building: Create learning resources, internal documentation, and lead initiatives that promote a culture of design excellence across the organization.
  • Advocate for design maturity: Present new component logic, advise on native and custom patterns to stakeholders, socialize updates, and mentor designers on system best practices.
  • Stay ahead of trends: Continuously research emerging tools (e.g., AI-assisted design, variable fonts, advanced prototyping, MCP servers) to keep the system future-ready.

What Do You Need To Bring?

  • Bachelors in Design, HCI, or equivalent experience.
  • 5 years minimum in digital product design, with a strong portfolio showcasing design system principles across responsive web and native apps.
  • Expertise in Figma: Advanced use of variables, component properties, variants, auto-layout, Dev Mode and token plugins.
  • Familiarity with design-to-code workflows, including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and frameworks like React, AEM, SwiftUI, and Kotlin.
  • Experience with design tokens, variable theming, usage of native components and cross-platform component architecture.
  • Strong understanding of Agile and Design Thinking methodologies.
  • Ability to synthesize qualitative and quantitative insights into scalable design solutions.
  • Exceptional collaboration and communication skills in a remote environment.
  • Proficiency in mentoring and teaching others: Skilled at guiding designers through design system adoption and best practices, fostering growth and knowledge-sharing across teams.
