Description

Glendale Community College seeks a leader who is dedicated to all aspects of student success and closing equity gaps, to apply for its Human Resources Manager, Classification and Compensation position. Definition:

Under administrative direction manages the maintenance and activities related to classification and compensation; analyzes complex and technical problems related to classification and provides appropriate solutions. collects and analyzes data, reviews, and makes recommendations on methods and techniques of compensation; develops, and conducts salary surveys, compensation studies and other standardized market pricing methods; Designs and conducts job analysis and job evaluation studies for position classification; creates and updates job descriptions.

Supervision

Works under the direct supervision of the Vice President, Human Resources.

May provide work direction to classified staff, temporary, and/or student employees.
Work Schedule
40 hours per week, 12 months per year

Examples of Duties

The following duties and responsibilities are typical of those performed by employees in this classification.
  • Manages the maintenance and operational activities related to classification and compensation; develops recommends, and implements related human resources practices and policies in classification and compensation.
  • Plans, develops, conducts and implements District-wide classification studies; determines appropriate job evaluation methods; develops, reviews and updates job descriptions
  • Conducts salary studies utilizing appropriate market, system wide, and campus data to determine the target market salary in alignment with the District's pay practices; recommends and implements salary adjustments to District salary plans to maintain appropriate internal and external pay structure; recommends and secures external survey reports to be used as benchmarks for salary studies.
  • Designs and maintains pay structures; develops, recommends and communicates compensation policies; identifies, reviews and resolves salary and equity issues; collects and analyzes salary data, reviews, and makes recommendations on methods and techniques of compensation.
  • Develops, and conducts salary surveys , compensation studies and other standardized market pricing methods in support of enhancing external competitiveness, internal equity, and fiscally responsible pay practices; analyzes data and prepares recommendations.
  • Reviews and provides salary recommendations for pay grade levels.
  • Supervises classification studies including job analyses, desk audits, salary surveys, and development and preparation of job descriptions. Recommend compensation levels for positions, position allocations, and prepare appropriate pay ordinances or resolutions.
  • Designs and conducts job analysis and job evaluation studies for position classifications; collects, analyzes, and develops occupational data regarding job qualifications and job characteristics; creates and updates job descriptions.
  • Provides information to management regarding classification and salary queries and issues Responds to external requests for information regarding classifications and compensation s.
  • Reviews employee requests for reclassification requests and performs desk audits, as needed. Review

Education and Experience:

Associate's degree

Three (3) years of experience working directly in classification and compensation.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL STANDARDS:

Salary

Starting salary: Step 1 $8,712.00 to Step 6 $11.118.00 monthly depending upon education and experience. Longevity steps may apply.
