Veterinary Technician - Full-TIme $52,000 - $75,800 annual salary with Benefits
Job Overview:
As veterinary technican in Special Surgeries and Dentals, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the dental and special surgery services, ensuring high standards of care and adherence to medical protocols. You will work closely with the Chief Operations Officer, Clinic leadership, and other department heads to lead a skilled team in providing exceptional patient care for dental and complex surgeries.
Administrative Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) for special surgical and dental procedures in collaboration with clinic leadership.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant medical regulations, including DEA and OSHA standards.
- Maintain and manage equipment for the department, including scheduling maintenance, overseeing repairs, and budget allocations.
- Prepare and maintain accurate staff, patient, and medical records; conduct performance evaluations.
- Ensure the department meets patient care expectations and performs according to the highest standards.
Technician Responsibilities:
- Provide direct hands-on care during special surgeries and dental procedures, ensuring patients are monitored closely before, during, and after surgeries.
- Administer anesthetics, monitor vital signs, and manage pain control.
- Assist with advanced surgical and dental techniques, including extractions, root canals, and specialized soft tissue surgeries.
- Cultivate positive relationships with clients, providing clear communication regarding procedures and aftercare instructions.
- Assist in post-operative care, ensuring recovery and monitoring for any complications.
Specific Qualifications:
- Certified Veterinary Technician license or equivalent experience required.
- Minimum of four years' experience in veterinary technology.
- Management or supervisory experience in a clinic or hospital setting is preferred.
- Experience in a mentorship or teaching role is desired but not required
- Strong work ethic with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in surgical techniques and patient care protocols.
- Experience in shelter medicine is desired but not required
- Live in the greater Madison area or willing to relocate

- Experience with high-volume spay/neuter and pediatric surgeries or a willingness to learn these techniques is desirable
