This role partners closely with the Store Managers and works directly with the Director of Operations to support operational excellence and business growth. Position SummaryThe Assistant Store Manager supports the Store Manager in executing company initiatives, achieving operational goals, and ensuring the consistent, day-to-day operation of the store. This role plays a key part in driving sales, managing staff performance, maintaining store standards, and delivering exceptional customer service.
Key ResponsibilitiesSupport store leadership in the execution of operational goals, company initiatives, and daily business operations
Assign staff duties based on skill sets and operational needs to ensure optimal service and productivity
Create and manage employee schedules; monitor attendance and address performance or disciplinary issues as needed
Drive sales growth through market research, product assortment analysis, and promotional initiatives
Monitor competitor pricing, product offerings, and service standards to maintain a competitive market position
Support sales promotions, product launches, and merchandising efforts to maximize customer engagement
Address customer concerns, complaints, and returns professionally while implementing feedback to improve service
Supervise customer assistance on the sales floor, including product inquiries and order fulfillment
Prepare and review monthly employee performance evaluations, identifying coaching and development opportunities
Ensure store cleanliness, sanitation, and food safety standards are consistently met
Enforce safety policies and procedures to maintain a secure environment for employees and customers
Perform additional duties as assigned by management

Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced retail environment

Strong organizational and time-management abilities
High School Diploma or equivalent required
Previous experience as an Assistant Store Manager in a large supermarket, grocery store, or gourmet market
Strong understanding of grocery store operations, including ordering, inventory, staffing, training, vendor relations, and customer service
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and related business software
Continuous movement throughout the store on hard surfaces
Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, climbing, and stooping
Ability to lift up to 30 pounds; heavier items may require assistance
Indoor retail environment with exposure to temperature variations (freezers, ovens, coolers)
Occasional exposure to cleaning agents and loud equipment
