Maintain 2nd process certification of GMAW (AWS/NAVSEA), GTAW (ASME/AWS/NAVSEA), and SMAW (ASME/AWS/NAVSEA) in flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead positions.
SAW weld certification is mandatory
Create quality welds according to blueprints and drawings and take or read measurements to plan layout and procedures
Responsible for acceptable GMAW, FCAW, GTAW & SAW welding processes and knowledge of operating welding machines such as welding tractors and bugs.
Grind and inspect their own welds for accuracy before quality is called for certified inspections.
Prepare products to be welded accordingly by grinding, drilling, and prepping steel.
Carbon Air Arc gouging is required.
Stamp all welds with certified assigned welder stamp
Change welding wire as necessary and properly store wire until use
Change and maintain gas needed for welding
Determine the appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirements
Set up components for welding according to specifications (e.g., cut material with powered saws to match measurements)
Maintain and repair all equipment and use it with care
Shop personnel shall clock into labor steps in accordance with Global Shop training for traceability on completion of labor steps
Must keep welder certs active
GMAW/FCAW 6G Pipe requires GMAW-SC open root with FCAW fill and cap
NAVSEA qualified welder requires classroom training/pass exam. Must pass annual vision test meeting Jaeger Level II or better near vision acuity) Level II for AWS, ASME, Level 1 for NAVSEA)
