Overview

GDC IT Solutions is currently seeking an AI Engineer to support the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services (JFS). This role focuses on designing and delivering intelligent chatbot and generative AI solutions across Microsoft, Google, and AWS ecosystems, while also supporting the modernization of legacy SharePoint On-Prem applications to M365 in a collaborative, innovation-driven environment.

As an AI Engineer you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining conversational AI and generative AI solutions that improve customer experience and workforce efficiency. This role combines advanced chatbot engineering, cloud-based AI development, secure API integration, and M365 modernization to deliver scalable, compliant, and user-centered AI applications.

Responsibilities
  • Designing and architecting AI and GenAI chatbot solutions, including user flows, feature definition, APIs, and system integrations.

  • Developing and maintaining conversational agents and generative AI solutions using Microsoft Bot Framework, Copilot Studio, Google CCAI, and AWS Bedrock.

  • Engineering effective generative AI prompts and implementing Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) solutions aligned with State of Ohio and JFS standards.

  • Integrating AI applications with enterprise systems, APIs, Microsoft Graph, and third-party services.

  • Building AI applications that retrieve and act on SharePoint, Teams, Outlook, and other M365 data sources.

  • Developing new M365 solutions to replace and modernize existing SharePoint 2016 On-Prem applications.

  • Supporting and maintaining SharePoint 2016 On-Prem applications during transition to M365 technologies.

  • Implementing and tuning NLP techniques to improve chatbot intent recognition, accuracy, and response quality.

  • Creating conversational flows that are natural, intuitive, engaging, and human-like.

  • Training, deploying, and maintaining AI models across cloud platforms.

  • Designing dashboards and analytics (including Looker) to monitor chatbot performance and user engagement.

  • Analyzing chatbot interaction data, identifying trends, and preparing performance and optimization reports.

  • Troubleshooting, debugging, and resolving chatbot performance and integration issues.

  • Ensuring AI solutions meet data privacy, security, and compliance requirements.

  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams including business analysts, UX designers, project managers, and governance teams.

  • Partnering with the AI Center of Excellence (CoE) to align solutions with standards, architectures, and technology roadmaps.

  • Planning and leading proof-of-concept (POC) initiatives to evaluate emerging AI and M365 technologies.

  • Creating Copilot plugins, custom copilots, and agents using Copilot Studio.

  • Automating workflows using Power Automate and integrating AI-driven logic.

  • Producing technical documentation and presentations using Word, PowerPoint, Visio, and SharePoint.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Three years of hands-on experience developing AI chatbot solutions using Microsoft Bot Framework or Google Cloud Contact Center AI.

  • Five years of experience in IT application development, including five years of .NET development experience.

  • Strong programming skills in C#, .NET, JavaScript, and Python.

  • Experience integrating AI solutions with APIs, enterprise systems, and cloud services.

  • Experience developing and deploying generative AI solutions, including prompt engineering and RAG implementations.

  • Experience with Microsoft M365 technologies including SharePoint, Power Apps, Power Automate, and Power BI.

  • Minimum one year of experience developing Power Platform solutions.

  • Experience supporting SharePoint 2016 On-Prem applications.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.

  • Experience developing and maintaining AI solutions using AWS services, including AWS Bedrock.

  • Experience modernizing SharePoint 2016 On-Prem applications to M365.

  • Experience creating and maintaining performance dashboards, including Looker.

  • Experience leading architecture and solution design impacting critical business systems.

  • Experience facilitating discussions with business SMEs and presenting technical solutions to non-technical audiences.

  • Experience leading emerging technology analysis and proof-of-concept initiatives.

  • Strong consultative, problem-solving, and stakeholder engagement skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to build trust and confidence with customers and partners.
