General Manager

Job Summary

At Koala Insulation of Atlanta Perimeter North, we are looking for a professional, hands-on General Manager. The General Manager is responsible for improving efficiency and increasing departmental profits while managing the company’s overall operations. They oversee several elements in a business, including hiring staff, operating budgets, and launching price promotions that could attract more customers.  

Koala Insulation is an insulation contractor providing high-quality insulation services to homeowners, contractors, and property owners. 

This role involves hiring of the crew including selecting candidates, conducting interviews, and making offers of employment. The General Manager will be involved in the day-to-day operation of the business including insulation removal and installation, as well as ensuring that vehicles and equipment are maintained and operated safely. This position will also handle customer care complaints to ensure customer satisfaction.

Management Responsibilities

• Design strategy and set goals for growth.
• Control budgets and optimize expenses.
• Ensure employees are motivated and productive.
• Hires, trains, and coaches/mentors new employees. 
• Organizes and oversees the schedules and work of assigned staff. 
• Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive. 
• Handles conflict resolution, discipline, and termination of employees as needed and in accordance with company policy.
• Ensure staff follows health and safety regulations
• Provide solutions to issues (e.g. profit decline, employee conflicts, loss of business to competitors).

Duties/Responsibilities

• Plans and organizes daily activities related to service and operations. 
• Ensures all vehicles and rigs are properly maintained and in good working order.
• Determines labor and scheduling needs to meet service and operations goals. 
• Purchases materials, plan inventory, and oversee warehouse efficiency and safety.
• Performs high quality insulation removal and installation as needed and inspects jobs upon completion.
• Enforces Koala Insulation operations manual and policies. 
• Ensures that all legally required documents are kept up to date. 
• Provides continuous improvement of customer service, quality, efficiency, and safety.
• Performs other related duties as required. 

Required Skills/Abilities

• Proven experience as a General Manager or similar operational management role
• Experience in planning and budgeting
• Knowledge of business process and functions (finance, HR, procurement, operations etc.)
• Strong analytical ability
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Outstanding organizational and leadership skills
• Problem-solving aptitude
• Ability to interpret financial data as needed to set service goals. 
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software. 
• Experience using a CRM preferred.
• General Construction skills
• Take-offs skills

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Project Management, or related field preferred, but not required. 
• 1 to 3 years of related experience required. 

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods of walking, standing, and sitting. 
• Must be able to access and navigate the jobsite. 
• Working environment may be subject to high temperatures, confined spaces, and heights.
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
