Summary:
The Quality Engineer is responsible for applying advanced Quality Assurance principles to optimize processes, strengthen system reliability, and ensure consistent production of high-quality products. This role develops and maintains procedures that align with regulatory, industry, and customer requirements while driving continuous improvement across operations. The QE must expertly interpret customer specifications and identify or develop the appropriate tools, equipment, and methodologies needed to ensure full compliance and exceptional performance.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive audits of the Quality Management System and collaborate with cross-functional teams to establish, train, and develop in-house auditors
- Participate in external audits of ESC suppliers, ensuring alignment with contractual and regulatory requirements
- Support the QC Inspection Lead by interpreting and applying acceptance criteria to ensure consistent and accurate inspection outcomes
- Work closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain to drive compliance, strengthen processes, and promote continuous improvement
- Provide support for customer source inspection activities and ensure readiness of associated documentation and product
- Develop impactful corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs) that enhance system performance and long-term reliability
- Manage and maintain SCAR, CAR, and ICAR activities and associated records to ensure timely closure and traceability
- Schedule, coordinate, and facilitate Customer, ISO 13485, NADCAP, and AS9100 audits, including preparation activities and resource allocation
- Develop, refine, and maintain robust procedures that uphold best practices and meet ISO 13485, NADCAP, and AS9100 requirements
- Review, train, and support personnel in the preparation and accuracy of AS9102 First Article Inspection Reports (FAIR)
- Lead and perform Root Cause Analysis using methodologies such as 8D, 5 Whys, and Ishikawa diagrams to resolve quality issues and prevent recurrence
- Execute all responsibilities in strict adherence to established safety procedures and company safety standards
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality Assurance, or a related technical discipline
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in a Quality Engineering role, ideally within an Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS) environment
- Demonstrated proficiency in electronics inspection methods, acceptance criteria, and manufacturing processes
- Comprehensive knowledge of IPC standards (including IPC-A-610 and IPC-A-600), AS9100D, MIL-STD-883, and related aerospace and defense quality requirements
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with a practical, hands-on approach to resolving complex quality challenges
- Proven ability to effectively train and mentor peers, direct reports, and cross-functional stakeholders
- Experience with Quality Management Systems (QMS), Statistical Process Control (SPC), Measurement System Analysis (MSA), and Six Sigma methodologies
- Exceptional communication skills with the ability to produce clear, accurate, and detailed documentation
- Highly dependable and capable of working independently with minimal supervision
- Advanced computer proficiency, including use of quality, data analysis, and productivity software
- Ability to apply Lean principles and 5S methodologies to improve efficiency and reduce waste
- Must be a US Citizen or permanent legal US resident
Preferred Qualifications:
- IPC-A-610 Certification
- IPC J-STD-001 Certification
- Understanding of IPC WHMA-A-620
- Experience with NASA 8739 and IPC space addendum
- Lean Six Sigma Certification
- PMI PMP Certification
