Registered Nurse (RN) – Night Shift

Critical Illness / Step-Down | 13-Week Contract

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) for a night-shift contract in a high-acuity medical setting caring for critically ill and medically complex patients. This role is ideal for nurses with step-down or ICU experience who are comfortable managing advanced airways and complex patient needs.

Location:

Central Ohio (facility details shared during screening)

Schedule:
  • Night Shift

  • 12-hour shifts

  • 3 shifts per week

  • 13-week contract – Could be extended

Compensation:
  • $35–$42 per hour

  • Competitive hourly rate based on experience

  • Standard work week structure

  • No overtime beyond billable maximum

Clinical Environment:
  • High-acuity medical patients

  • Typical patient load averages 4:1 , based on acuity

  • Strong interdisciplinary collaboration

  • Supportive and responsive leadership team

Required Qualifications:
  • Active RN license

  • BLS (required prior to first shift)

  • ACLS (required prior to first shift)

  • Minimum 2 years of bedside nursing experience

  • Experience in step-down, critical care, or high-acuity medical units

  • Ventilator and tracheostomy experience required

Preferred Experience:
  • ICU or LTACH background

  • Experience managing critical drips

  • Comfort with complex assessments and rapidly changing patient conditions

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform comprehensive nursing assessments within 8 hours of admission

  • Develop and implement individualized plans of care

  • Provide accurate, timely clinical documentation

  • Participate in interdisciplinary team conferences

  • Deliver patient and family education throughout the stay

  • Initiate discharge planning from admission

  • Communicate patient status changes promptly and effectively

  • Delegate and supervise ancillary staff appropriately

  • Maintain a strong focus on patient and staff safety

  • Contribute positively to unit culture and teamwork

  • Assume charge responsibilities after orientation (as needed)
