Position: Accounting Specialist
Location: Rochester, NY
Shift: 8am to 5pm
Pay Rate: $23.50

Job Summary

Under moderate supervision, performs daily accounting and financial functions, including the handling of operational funds. Interacts regularly with internal and external business partners to ensure financial information related to the insurance agency is accurate and quality control standards are met.

Job Responsibilities

• Reviews, codes and enters insurance carrier commission revenue and premium payment adjustments for clients and client employees into applicable systems and applications daily to ensure data feeds accurately to the general ledger and for review internally by finance and insurance operations personnel.

• Verifies the completeness and consistency of financial transactions to ensure that controls, regulatory requirements, and policies are being met.

• Researches and reconciles insurance revenue commission and premium payment adjustments in applicable systems and applications to ensure financial and quality standards are met.

• Provides first level response to e-mail, mail, and phone inquiries from Finance, Insurance Operations, and Compliance, as well as external partners such as insurance carriers and general agents, to ensure quality service expectations are met.

• Maintains department procedures to ensure they remain current and accurate. Suggests changes to improve procedural efficiencies. Participates in projects or special assignments upon request.

Required Skills/Certifications

• Bachelor's Degree Accounting, Finance or related discipline - Preferred

• 1 year of experience in accounting, finance, or insurance industry - Preferred
