Optometrist

Positions assigned to this class are responsible for providing visual care services in a student health center. Performs medical evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, counseling, and referral of college students’ visual health, which may include diseases and disorders of the visual system, the eyes, and associated structures, including diagnosis of related systemic conditions. Prescribes eyeglasses and contact lenses, and may prescribe drugs to treat eye disorders.

Optometrist in this position provides age-appropriate diagnosis, treatment and management of diseases and disorders of the visual system, the eyes, and associated structures, including the diagnosis of related systemic conditions to University students. Implements policies and procedures that affect clinic operations and the delivery of patient care.
