The Fitness Repair Technician is responsible for performing preventative maintenance and repairs on cardiovascular and resistance fitness equipment across YMCA of Central Ohio branches. This role ensures equipment safety, functionality, and minimal downtime through regular inspections, servicing, documentation, and coordination with branch staff. Completes all preventative maintenance and repair work lists facilitated with Facility software system MMS software. Work with Branch staff to communicate equipment down time and return to service estimations.
Completes all preventative maintenance and repair tasks in a timely fashion minimizing downtime due to failures ensuring a positive member experience.
Inspects equipment regularly for damage problems. Clean and lubricate equipment according to machine specifications.
Conducts routine inspection, cleaning, lubrication, calibration, and minor maintenance of resistance and cardiovascular equipment to ensure safety, optimal performance, and compliance with manufacturer specifications.
Maintains all required logs, records, and documentation within facility software, Branch procedures, and association policy.
Accesses computer to print and record Facility software work order information.
Reviews and maintains adequate inventories.
Will be scheduled to travel to multiple YMCA Branches to complete repairs or maintenance service, as necessary.
Knows and adheres to all branch/core service line policies and procedures related to equipment, chemical safety, employee conduct rules, and other regulations.
Adheres to policies related to boundaries with youth. Participates in required abuse risk management training. Reports suspicious and inappropriate behaviors. Follows mandated abuse reporting requirements. Adheres to job-specific abuse risk management responsibilities.

RequirementsQUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or equivalent, and at least 3 years of experience in fitness maintenance or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge of procedures, safety measures, and commonly used concepts within one or more particular facilities field(s) is strongly preferred.
Ability to acquire repair certification from equipment manufacturers as needed to conduct in-house warranty repair, within 6 months of identified need.
Must be able to read, write, and follow instruction. Basic computer skills (email and work orders) are essential.
Possess basic mechanical aptitude and have experience in electrical, printed circuit boards, mechanical repairs, complex moving systems, etc.
Valid drivers license with acceptable driving record, and ability to work at a various locations during the course of a workday.
Must be flexible in work scheduling to fulfill a variety of work shifts including workdays and shift schedules (morning, noon, night) on occasion.
