Job Summary:
Responsible for ensuring the efficient, safe, and reliable operation of all packaging machinery throughout the facility. This role oversees equipment setup, changeovers, optimization, troubleshooting, preventive maintenance oversight, and operator training. Also instrumental in supporting continuous improvement initiatives, maintaining GMP compliance, and ensuring packaging quality standards are consistently met.

As a Packaging Engineer, You Will:

• Prepare, update, and maintain SOPs for equipment operation, setup, changeover, and closing procedures.
• Review, establish, and optimize preventive maintenance programs for all packaging equipment.
• Verify all preventive maintenance tasks are completed accurately and on schedule.
• Audit PM activities to improve equipment reliability and reduce downtime.
• Manage inventory of parts, tools, and materials related to packaging equipment.
• Partner with the Sanitation Manager to develop and refine equipment cleaning procedures.
• Conduct regular equipment inspections to ensure sanitation requirements are met before production.
• Train operators and mechanics on proper equipment operation, setup, and changeover techniques.
• Ensure equipment settings and performance consistently support optimal packaging quality and throughput.
• Lead troubleshooting efforts, coordinating with necessary teams to quickly resolve packaging-related issues.
• Diagnose and resolve mechanical, material, and process issues, including defects, adjustments, or reliability concerns.
• Maintain open communication with Production and Maintenance teams during equipment breakdowns or process interruptions.
• Lead Root Cause Analysis investigations and coach team members in developing strong RCA skills.
• Support new equipment purchases, upgrades, and installations by providing input on equipment functionality, automation, and controls.
• Oversee documentation management, GMP compliance activities, and support ongoing line development initiatives.

Skills and Requirements:

• Thorough working knowledge of all packaging equipment and its operation
• Solid understanding of all packaging materials, including various films and carton types
• In-depth technical expertise in the mechanical, electrical, and functional aspects of packaging machinery

Education:

• Bachelor of Arts Degree in an Engineering discipline
