Position Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Commercial Plumbing Estimator to join our growing team and support our expanding volume of bid requests from both prospective and established clients across the Twin Cities metro area. This role focuses exclusively on estimatingno project management responsibilities.

The ideal candidate has a strong background in design/build plumbing, with the ability to conceptualize, design, and estimate complete plumbing systems from preliminary concepts, architectural plans, or verbal direction. Experience in both commercial change-out projects and ground-up new construction is highly preferred. Expertise in CAD/REVIT, FastEST, Trimble, or other estimating platforms is a significant advantage.

This individual will work closely with internal teams, Project Managers, general contractors, and clients to produce accurate, timely, and competitive estimates while supporting business development efforts.

Core Responsibilities

Estimating & Technical Work

  • Prepare detailed estimates for commercial plumbing in both design/build and plan/spec environments.
  • Develop, draft, and clarify a comprehensive Scope of Work for each bid.
  • Design and conceptualize full plumbing systems when required (preferred).
  • Interpret architectural and engineering drawings, specifications, and design intent.
  • Collect, analyze, and compare quotations from vendors and subcontractors.
  • Produce accurate and competitive estimates using approved estimating software (FastEST, Trimble, etc.).
  • Work in Salesforce to manage incoming bid requests, client details, and estimate tracking.

Communication & Coordination

  • Maintain regular communication with customers, vendors, subcontractors, and internal partners.
  • Collaborate with sales and leadership teams to support customer solutions and pricing strategies.
  • Track and manage multiple active estimates simultaneously, often under tight deadlines.
  • Provide technical support related to estimating, scopes, and plumbing system concepts.

Client Relationship Support (NonProject Management)

  • Serve as the primary estimating point of contact for assigned clients.
  • Support negotiations and clarify scope during the pre-contract stage.
  • Help identify opportunities for new business within current accounts.

Education & Experience Requirements

  • Proven experience in commercial plumbing estimating; additional experience in mechanical wet side systems is a plus.
  • Experience in design/build plumbing or an architectural/design background (preferred).
  • Skilled in reading and interpreting plans, specifications, and building codes.
  • Experience with FastEST, Trimble, FastDuct, or FastPipe is a plus.
  • CAD or REVIT experience strongly preferred and considered higher-level talent.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Working knowledge of relevant federal, state, and local construction and plumbing regulations.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
